Deputies` Salaries Increased by 10 Percent
The Administrative Committee of the National Assembly today held, during the recess of the Assembly's session, its 41st regular session.
The Administrative Committee of the National Assembly today held, during the recess of the Assembly's session, its 41st regular session.
The Committee discussed the National Assembly's Table of Expenses for January and February 2002. It was noted that the Assembly spent 13.82% of total assets allotted for its work. It was also noted that the National Assembly spent only 11.55% of assets allotted for its material expenses, which goes to show that the Assembly's bodies were very sensible in spending state money. The Committee obliged the Secretary of the National Assembly to submit a report on expenditure each month.
The Administrative Committee was informed of the salaries of National Assembly Deputies in relation to salaries in other representative bodies. It was noted that salaries in other representative bodies were much higher than at the National Assembly. The salary of a Federal Deputy amounts to about 30.000 dinars, while a Serbian Deputy earns about 15.000 dinars. The Committee unanimously voted to increase Deputies' salaries by 11.4%, the amount by which employees' salaries were increased a month ago. Due to various interpretations by the public, the Committee decided to publish the amounts of salaries earned by National Assembly Deputies.
